15 Stunning Instagram Spots in Prague – Prague’s Best Photo Spots

Old Town Square

This picture-perfect square is located in the heart of Prague’s Old Town. Dating to the 12th century, this is where you will find some of Prague’s most iconic buildings and plenty of great photography opportunities.

Within the Old Town Square, you can see the impressive Church of Our Lady before Týn, the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town Hall. All of these buildings are stunning and provide the perfect backdrop to your Instagram photos.

This square is also home to many popular restaurants and food stalls which means there are always crowds at any given time of the day. For the best chance at capturing a photo without people in the background, you’ll want to arrive here as early as possible.

On my last visit to Prague, I was there during the busiest time of year: summer. I found that being in the square by 8am was the best chance at getting a crowd-free shot!

Having said that, some people don’t mind having crowds in the background because it captures a more realistic scene and adds life to the photo. See both options below!

Astronomical Clock

Located in the Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock is one of the most famous photo spots in Prague. This amazing clock dates to the 15th century and is located on the side of the Town Hall building.

Be sure to time your visit for when the clock strikes the hour to watch a little performance of figures rotating around the clock. It really blew my mind to think this clock has been continuously working for over 600 years!

As previously mentioned, the Astronomical Clock also gets extremely busy with crowds during the day. For the best chance at having it all to yourself, stop here first thing in the morning. There was already a few people queueing up to take photos at the clock when I arrived around 8am.

Terasa U Prince

For the best view over the Old Town Square, head over to the rooftop bar at Terasa U Prince. This is arguably the best Instagram spot in Prague and the perfect place to take in the scenery with a drink in hand.

The drinks at this bar will set you back slightly more than other bars around Prague however the view makes it 100% worth it! To get there, enter the bar from the street and walk to the back to find the elevator.

Ride the lift to the top floor and then you will arrive at the famous terrace. To make things easier for you, click here to see the exact location of Terasa U Prince. Don’t miss this spot, even if it’s just for one drink!

Charles Bridge

Another one of Prague’s iconic landmarks, Charles Bridge is full of beautiful photography opportunities. No matter which angle you choose to shoot, this is really the best place to capture the magic of Prague in a photo.

Lined with statues and large medieval towers on either end, Charles Bridge is like a scene taken from a fairytale. Throughout the day and evening, Charles Bridge is a busy hotspot for tourists, street vendors, and performers. Set the alarm for sunrise if you really want the bridge to yourself.

For a totally different perspective of the bridge, book a cruise along the Vltava River. This will take you past some of Prague’s best sights including Charles Bridge, while giving you some insight into the city’s history.

Prague Castle

The striking sight of Prague Castle is hard to miss on your explorations around the city. Sitting high up above Prague, this stunning castle complex boasts some of the best views in town.

The castle itself is a sight to behold and is home to over 1000 years worth of history. Within the Prague Castle complex, there are an endless choice of Instagram spots to discover. You could easily spend a few hours in this area, just taking your time finding beautiful scenes to capture around each corner.

Top Tip: Avoid standing in the notoriously long line that forms at Prague Castle. I would highly recommend getting the skip-the-line-ticket online before you go. I did this on my last visit to Prague and it saved me a ton of time!

The ticket covers entry to the Old Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George’s Basilica, and Golden Lane.

The first building you will come across when you enter the castle complex is the impressive St Vitus Cathedral. It’s one of the most important buildings inside the castle and the most beautiful cathedral I’ve ever seen.

The inside of the cathedral is even more amazing than the outside and offers some unique photography angles. Take some time to admire the detailed stained glass windows and domed ceilings before moving on.

St Vitus Cathedral is massive and if you’d like to capture the entire building in one frame like I did, you will definitely need to shoot in wide angle mode.

Golden Lane

Golden Lane is one of the prettiest little corners of Prague and makes for the most magical Instagram photos. I absolutely loved exploring and photographing this little cobbled street.

The colourful row of traditional houses adds a nice pop of colour which results in the perfect background for your Instagram photos.

Besides being one of Prague’s best photo spots, the street has some interesting history behind it and is home to a number of museums. One of them features medieval weapons and armour and the other is a 15th century prison tower at the far end of Golden Lane.

Golden Lane is located within the Prague Castle complex which means that entry is included with your skip-the-line ticket. Similar to the spots listed above, your best shot at getting a clean photo here is in the morning before the crowds arrive.

St Wenceslas Vineyard

A short walk from Prague Castle will bring you to this lovely vineyard with a stunning view that looks out over Prague and the Vltava River.

There is a small cafe attached to the vineyard serving refreshments and snacks. I stumbled upon this beautiful spot after visiting Prague Castle and found it to be the perfect place to stop for a drink.

St Wenceslas Vineyard dates back to the 10th century, making it one of the oldest wineries in the country. This is a great place to try some traditional Czech wine while admiring the scenery. They also serve beer and various other drinks.

There is a lookout next to the cafe which offers a great spot to pose for a photo with the city of Prague as your background. This is one of the lesser known Instagram spots of Prague but it doesn’t fail to impress!

Malá Strana

The picturesque Malá Strana district is located on the western banks of the Vltava River. You can get there by crossing over Charles Bridge from Prague’s Old Town.

Within the cobbled lanes of Malá Strana, you will fine plenty of historic pubs, cute little squares, beautiful buildings, parks, and viewpoints. The main highlight of this neighbourhood is Prague Castle.

As you wind your way through the narrow alleys, you will find pretty Instagram spots around every corner. My personal favourite place to stop in this area is Prague’s oldest pub, the Medieval Tavern.

Dating back to the 14th century, this fantastic old pub is a must-see on your Prague itinerary. Sip your pint by candlelight as costumed bar maids serve you traditional food in a skull lined dungeon. This is where King Wenceslas IV used to drink in the medieval days!

Vltava River Swans

Make your way down to Prague’s riverfront for some magical views and prime photo opportunities. It is really hard to beat the scenery here with a background of Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and white swans floating along the river.

This is easily the most photographed scene in Prague and makes for a postcard-perfect memory. If you’re lucky, you may also spot some other wildlife in this area.

Keep your eyes peeled for coypu (small mammals that look like beavers) swimming around the shallow waters near the river’s edge. I wasn’t expecting to see these cute animals in Prague but they definitely made the scenery even more special!

To reach this spot, follow a set of stairs that lead down to the river, see exact location here.

Vltava River Swing

Escape the crowds of Prague and enjoy the view of the Vltava River from this lovely swing. On my recent visit to Prague in July 2022, I randomly stumbled upon this swing without even knowing it existed. It turned out to be one of my favourite Instagram spots in Prague!

The Prague swing is located in the exact same place as mentioned above, right on the riverbank. Swing photos always seem to perform well on Instagram. Whether you’re taking a still image or filming a reel, this spot certainly won’t disappoint.

It is possible that someone may remove the swing at some stage in the future so I can’t promise you that it will be here forever. If you make it to this spot and find that the swing is no longer there, at least the views are still beautiful and worthy of a photo!

Prague Dancing House

This incredibly unique building is a striking contrast from the rest of Prague’s historic architecture. The Dancing House is a relatively recent addition to the city, only being completed in 1996.

In recent years, the quirky building has attracted a lot of attention from photographers and Instagrammer’s who are keen to capture this fascinating landmark of Prague.

It’s easy to make a quick photo stop here on your adventures around Prague however you can also enter the building to have a drink on the rooftop terrace. From the top, you can see a panoramic view of the Vltava River and Prague Castle.

Absintherie Jilská

Prague is one of the few places in the world where you can visit an Absintherie. If you’re keen to learn more about this iconic green drink and perhaps do a tasting, Absintherie Jilská is the place to go.

Located in the Old Town of Prague, the Absintherie is a museum and bar where you will get the chance to try over 100 different types of absinthe. Aside from trying the absinthe, the building is great for capturing a fun Instagram photo on the inside or out.

Learn the correct way to drink absinthe from the helpful staff while sipping one of the absinthe cocktails on their menu. There are many places in Prague to drink absinthe but it is worth saving the experience for this cool spot!

Petrin Hill

Make your way to Petrin Hill for a beautiful view over the city and Prague Castle complex. Petrin Hill is located in a large greenspace across the river from Prague’s Old Town. It’s an awesome place to escape the crowds for a peaceful walk.

The view from Petrin Hill is even more magical during sunset when the city is lit up in a golden glow. It goes without saying, the photo opportunities here are really endless! Climb up the 299 steps of the Petrin Tower for an even better view of Prague.

To reach Petrin Hill, you can either walk up the steep hill for 20 minutes or catch the funicular from the Újezd Station at the base of the hill. The funicular runs every 15 minutes and during the high season, it’s likely that you will need to wait in a long line.

Enjoying the views at Petrin Hill

John Lennon Wall

Street art is always a big hit on Instagram and this famous wall is not to be missed! It’s safe to say that the John Lennon Wall is one of the most popular photo spots in Prague.

Aside from adding a pop of colour to your Instagram feed, the wall has come to be known as a symbol of freedom. After his death in 1980, John Lennon’s face was drawn on this wall. Since then, it has been drawn over countless times by tourists leaving messages of peace and love.

Graffiti is actually legal here and if you wish, you can bring a marker to leave your own drawing. The John Lennon Wall is located in the Malá Strana neighbourhood. Once you cross over Charles Bridge, make a sharp left and follow the path that leads to the wall.
