The-Road-Is-Life-About-Me

Hello and thanks for stopping by, it’s nice to have you here 🙂 I’m Ann and I created this blog in 2019 after years of dreaming, researching and putting off starting a travel blog. So far the only thing I regret is not starting it sooner!

Ultimately I am so glad I finally stopped listening to that voice inside my head that told me I’d never make it as a blogger, that people would never read my work.

Fast forward 4 years into the future and here I am today in 2023 with a successful website that receives over 60k views per month from readers all over the world!

The journey to get here was full of ups and downs but staying consistent and never giving up on my dreams has more than paid off. I will forever be grateful for this challenging yet rewarding journey that has led me to where I am now.

But let’s go back a little ways to a time long before I ever thought of starting a travel blog…

Ann Kelly - The Road Is Life

Living my best life in Vietnam on my first solo backpacking trip! 2012

I grew up in a small town in BC, Canada and I’ve been living overseas and travelling the world for the past 12 years. I was 22 when I decided to quit my job, pack up my life and set off into the big world with nothing but a backpack and a one way ticket to Bangkok.

I am very fortunate that travel has always been a big part of my life. Growing up in a travel loving family, I realized at a young age that experiences provide far more value than material possessions.

In fact, that’s probably what led me to quit my 9-5 and chase after my dreams! I always knew I would be a world traveller one day.

Leaving everything familiar behind was quite terrifying at first. Luckily, it didn’t take long for me to adjust to my new life as a backpacker. Within a few weeks, I realized that this was the life I was meant to be living.

At this point, I can’t imagine my life any other way. Nothing compares to the freedom of being able to fit everything I own into one bag on my back!

Owning minimal stuff meant I was able to be free and move anywhere I wanted to, whenever I felt like it! I basically decided to let the universe determine my life’s path from that moment on.

In the last 12 years, I’ve travelled to over 50 countries and lived in Australia, England, with long periods of time in spent in Belgium, Albania and Thailand. My passion for travelling the world and discovering new cultures is what motivates me to inspire others to have the same enriching experiences.

I love creating detailed travel guides and itineraries that will hopefully help as many people as possible to embark on their own exciting adventures around the world!

I want to show you that it is possible to travel the world while working a 9-5 job. Trust me, I spent many years doing exactly that before taking the leap of faith with this blog.

I hope that my story will not only inspire you to travel to that exotic destination you’ve always dreamed of but to never give up on your wildest dreams.

Through hard work and perseverance, I was able to turn the unconventional lifestyle of my dreams into a reality. If I can do it, I know for a fact that you have the power to achieve the life you’ve always wanted.

Life is short and the world is wide so let’s make it count!

“Your greatest measure of success is always going to be the level of happiness you live in. Not money. Not cars. Not things. Happiness.”
