Hey guys! Thanks for stopping by our blog! We’re a free-spirited, adventurous couple who grew up on opposite sides of the world and were brought together by our shared love for travel. We stumbled into each other’s lives at just the right moment and we haven’t looked back since.

Through our photos, travel stories and tips, our mission is to inspire as many people as we can to get out there explore all that this incredible world has to offer. We hope to show you that travelling as much as we do, isn’t as hard as it seems. By making a few small changes in your day-to-day life, anyone can do it!

We often hear people tell us how lucky we are that we travel so often. I can assure you that it’s not luck and that if you want anything badly enough in life, you can make it happen. With a bit of hard work and saving, anyone can pull it off! You will only ever regret the travel that you don’t do.

Without a doubt, making travel a priority in our lives has brought us far more happiness and meaning than any material item ever has! (Except maybe our camera, lol)

Personal Stories

Hi I’m Ann!

I grew up in a small town in BC, Canada and I’ve been living overseas and travelling the world for the last 7 years. I was 22 when I decided to quit my job, pack up my life and set off into the big world with nothing but a backpack and a one way ticket to Bangkok.

Growing up in a travel loving family, I realized at a young age that experiences provide far more value than material possessions. In fact, that’s probably what led me to quit my 9-5 and chase after my dreams!  I always knew I would be a world traveler one day.

Solo backpacking in Vietnam

Living my best life in Vietnam on my first solo backpacking trip! – 2012

Fast forward to my 30-year-old self, I wouldn’t live any other way. There’s no other feeling like being able to fit everything you own into one bag on your back!

Leaving everything familiar behind was quite terrifying at first. Luckily, it didn’t take long for me to adjust to my new life as a backpacker. Within a few weeks, I realized that this was the life I was meant to be living.

Owning minimal stuff meant I was able to be free and move anywhere I wanted to, whenever I felt like it! I basically decided to let the universe determine my life’s path from that moment on. And that’s when I met Rick…

The Road Is Life

Hey I’m Rick!

I grew up in Albany, a small town in the south west of Australia and unlike Ann travel was never a part of my life growing up but I was the child of immigrants so I think it was definitely in my blood!

I moved to Brisbane and joined the army straight out of high school seeking some adventure. It was during this time that I became more and more obsessed with traveling until it was all I could think about. Once my contract was up I sold everything I owned and booked a one way ticket to Bangkok.

I had neither goals nor plans when I flew overseas and no idea what to expect but I ended up solo backpacking for 16 months, meeting the best people and having the most amazing experience of my life.

I realized that this was my true passion in life and everything else would always take a back seat to my pursuit of a life of travel. Travelling has changed who I am and what I value in the world in a drastic and positive way and I hope to encourage as many people as possible to have that experience.

Where Are We Now?

From our first meeting in Bangkok to finding each other again in Australia over a year later, we have spent the past 7 years together travelling and living in different countries.

We spent our first 4 years together living in Perth, Western Australia where Ann worked full time as a dental nurse and Rick completed his degree in paramedicine. During this time, we were still able to squeeze in trips to Canada, Alaska, Bali and Mexico – as well as many road trips around W.A.

When we left Australia in December of 2016, we decided to spend a winter season living and snowboarding in Whistler, BC before we re-located to the UK. This allowed us to spend some quality time with Ann’s family while getting in as many powder days as possible on the mountain!

We recently spent just over two years living in a small town called Ashford, Kent (the southeastern part of England). When Rick completed his degree, he was offered an opportunity to work as a paramedic for the NHS. We saw this as a chance to travel as much of Europe as we could. During our time in the UK, we travelled to 23 different European countries!

In January of 2020, we made our return to sunny old Perth. We really missed WA’s beautiful beaches, the warm weather and long summers while we were away! Our timing couldn’t have been better as we were able to settle in with new jobs and an apartment just before the Covid restrictions were put in place.

How Are We Able To Travel So Often?

People often think we must be either rich or lucky to be able to travel as often as we do. But the reality is that we are neither of those things. The way we choose to live is entirely possible for anyone to achieve if they really want to; it all comes down to the choices we make on a daily basis.

Our love for travel and minimalism is exactly what allows us to live the lifestyle we choose. Through our blog, we hope to inspire and encourage others to get more enjoyment out of life by travelling more. You can find all of our inspiring posts on minimalism right here.

Travel isn’t something that you need to have tons of money to do and you don’t have to be a “digital nomad” to be able to travel the world. We both work full time jobs; we simply prioritize our time and money for the thing we love most in life and that is adventure!

We made sure to visit as many beautiful English sites and villages as we could during our time living in the U.K.

What Lies Ahead For Us?

We plan to live and work in Perth for the foreseeable future while exploring as much of W.A. as we possibly can, all while creating epic Australian road trip itineraries and travel guides, of course! We will continue growing and expanding our blog with the goal of one day becoming full time travellers.

We’re both in our early 30’s and we don’t see ourselves settling down just yet. With an ever growing bucket list, we still have a lot of the world to see before we get to that point in life!

So, stay tuned to find out where in the world we end up travelling to next. Join us on our journey as we navigate our way through life and travel the world together. Follow us on Instagram to keep up with our travels in real time. Thanks for being a part of our journey 🙂
